Unlike man-made products, every piece of Natural Stone is unique, and the technical characteristics of the stone, allow it to be used in numerous applications within both residential and commercial projects. From flooring and paving to roof tiles and cladding, natural stone has been used for centuries as a long lasting and durable solution within the construction industry.
Within our portfolio of stones is a range of aesthetically beautiful Welsh Slate products, which offer technically superior properties. Operating from quarries situated in North Wales, Welsh Slate, has been supplying the world with high-quality slate for hundreds of years, including Penrhyn Quarry, which has been producing roofing slate since the thirteenth-century.
From these sources, Welsh slate has been used and crafted by many generations of skilled people from all walks of life from the Iron Age to present day. The earliest records of slate used in North Wales are from the Roman fort at Seqontium Caernarfon circa 77AD. Penrhyn Quarry has been at the centre and the focal point for UK natural stone and its heritage, for 700 years and a major operation for over 400 years.
Evidence of the shipping of materials dates back to the fourteenth-century and by the eighteenth-century Welsh slate was being shipped to all the major UK ports as well as many western European destinations. The worldwide use of slate from the eighteenth-century onwards followed the trade routes of the major British shipping lines complementing the import of cotton from America and wool from Australia as two prime examples.
Nowadays, our stones are supplied to customers around the world, who seek exceptional, unique and superior products to inspire their designs, resulting in the seamless connectivity of indoor and outdoor spaces, bringing the project to natural life.

All the stone is sensitively extracted from the quarries, and using skills passed down through the generations and the use of cutting-edge technology, the stone is transformed into beautiful luxurious and signature products.

Again unlike a lot of the imported stone being sold in the UK, all the natural stone we sell is quarried and processed in the UK and therefore we can guarantee that everything you buy from us has been ethically sourced. This means you are not only protecting UK jobs, but also keeping the skills, passed down through the generations, for the next generation to come.
