Our Environmental credentials
At Breedon we are uniquely positioned to do more for Biodiversity than most other organisations. We have over 13,000 hectares of land in GB alone, good relationships with the communities around our operations, and many engaged and enthusiastic colleagues who are keen to do more for the ecosystems on the sites they work around every day.
We have over 100 quarries and, with quarries typically operating between 10-20 years (some for hundreds of years!) there is a fantastic opportunity for us to enhance nature and biodiversity over these decades.
We encourage this through our biodiversity policy and our sustainability commitment to develop biodiversity action plans at our key sites.
Environmental Benefits of buying locally.
Apart from being able to offer competitive prices to our customers, we are also able to provide our customers with a number of other environmental benefits, namely:
Low carbon footprint- currently the majority of natural stone paving and tiles are imported from the likes of India, whereas all our stone comes from our own quarries located within the UK.
Ethically sourced – Like with the low carbon footprint, a lot of the natural stone being sold in the UK has been imported. Whereas all the natural stone we sell is quarried and processed in the UK and therefore we can guarantee that everything you buy from us has been ethically sourced and you know where you are buying from.
Sustainable – We have a commitment to conducting our business in an environmentally responsible manner by maximising the environmental benefits, minimising the environmental impact and promoting sustainable development within the operations and services. All the stone is sensitively extracted from the quarries, and using skills passed down through the generations and the use of cutting-edge technology, the stone is transformed into beautiful luxurious and signature products.
